Saint Vincent Hospital Shows Appreciation During National Emergency Medical Services Week

May 16, 2024

WORCESTER, Mass. – May 19-25, 2024 marks the 50th Anniversary of National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week. This year’s theme, “Honoring Our Past. Forging Our Future,” reminds to acknowledge the men and women who commit their lives—now, then, and in the future— to protecting and providing critical, life-saving services and compassionate care to our patients and community.

“Our EMS professionals serve in a broad range of roles, from providing highly-skilled care in an ambulance, to serving as educators, to practicing community paramedicine, to conducting research. These individuals are dedicated to improving emergency medical services on numerous levels and are helping to advance the vision and future of EMS,” says Dr. Adam Darnobid, Chief of Emergency Medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital.

Since 1974, hospitals across the country have celebrated National Emergency Medical Services Week and invited their communities to recognize and thank the dedicated first responders who provide quality care throughout the year. We encourage everyone to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency so that EMS can provide immediate care and transport you safely and quickly to the hospital.

“Emergency medical service professionals are the first responders of care for patients as they are transported to our hospital.  These brave people are first to answer the community’s call for help 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” says Carolyn Jackson, Chief Executive Officer for Saint Vincent Hospital.  “They begin the journey of compassionate care for our patients.”

We are so appreciative of the around-the-clock dedication and extraordinary care our first responders provide. Saint Vincent Hospital has planned many engagement activities this week to celebrate and thank our EMS providers.  We thank them for their commitment to each life in our community in their time of need. We are Better Together with you.

With the collaboration of our regional community EMS teams, Saint Vincent Hospital Emergency Department is ready to help and provide the quality care you need.  For more information, visit our website here.
